Development Returns!

So think of it like last year when all the Hollywood writers went on strike. It made us appreciate our shows so much more when they came back. Well, my blogmuse went on strike. For seven months.

*sorry*

Done apologizing.

So this term my FIG students took the development class that first inspired me to start this blog. They ended up having a different experience than I did.

For me, when I think of my personal development this term I thing about professional development.

I became a nanny, working for a local couple and taking care of a two-year-old. I wanted to approach it from a professional standpoint. I provided references, I have tried hard to apply what I've learned about early childhood development and to keep track of Grace's development. I love this job.

I became a TA for a Business School professor. I have gained all sorts of professional communication skills. I've ended up hob-nobbing with lots of professors and professional people.

I became a research assistant working with United Way to compile the latest research in the field of school readiness.

I have been taking three classes in my major, a professional program, and learning a lot about ethics, professional behaviors, and communication.

The single most important outcome of this term is that I feel more like a professional-in-training (PIT- is that a great acronym?). I have started dressing more professionally. I wake up at 7:30 every morning and I have a more regular sleeping pattern. I have all but eliminated my tendency to be late for things. I have gotten way better at communicating with people in a prompt and appropriate manner. I am even procrastinating less!

Just in general I feel like I am finally growing up.
